Any way to dispute shipment adjustmnets

I recently checked my transaction history and noticed about $500 in shipment adjustments but can't find a single way to dispute these charges. If I use pirate ship its extremely easy to dispute.

If you or any seller wants to dispute a carrier adjustment, you will need to file a support case disputing the Carrier shipping correction charges.

I recommend including details on what you are specifically disputing, and photos or other information that would help show that your original label information is accurate. This can include packaging photos as well as product photos and information.

That shows zero information on were to file the claim or who to contact. Just a bunch of how to prevent further charges or how to update information.

I have filed cases with seller support, and they just send a laundry list of "these are things that you could be billed extra for" and when I clarify that none of those things applied to my shipment, the case is ignored.

So what do we do when we file a case with seller support and the bot just keeps spitting out non-useful info?

The "carrier audited info" matched the info we provided.

ID 16990847561 that's one case.

The shipping services purchased for the package did not match the carrier-reported charge for shipping the package:

Customer Entered Dimensions: 24 X 3 X 3 IN II Weight: 10 OZ

Carrier Audited Dimensions: 24 X 3 X 3 IN II Weight: 1 LB

(notice it's exactly what we entered? 10 oz is billed by UPS as 1 lb)

Transportation Charges -$9.91

Additional Handling -$12.95

On that package, we gave the correct dimensions and the correct weight, and we were charged an additional $22 in fees, in addition to the original shipping cost, when the dimensions and weight were audited to be the exact same dimension and weight we entered.

We did not get a refund, Amazon charged us $30 UPS ground shipping on a 1 lb package that was dimensionally 1 lb.

So how do I actually get help with this, because seller support bots aren't helping.

Before you give me a list of potential reasons UPS could charge extra handling, we've already addressed this:

We sent this item in a 24x2x2 rectangular box. I have attached a photo of the box.

WEIGHT

Our weight was audited to be 1 lb, UPS bills in 1 lb increments, so we paid for 1 lb when we entered 10 oz as the weight.

LENGTH PLUS GIRTH

Our dimension were entered correctly when we purchased the label, so Amazon should have generated accurate shipping estimates with the 24x3x3 dimensions (the package is actually 24x2x2)

Why did Amazon originally generate a $10 shipping quote when we entered 24x3x3, if they were going to actually charge $30 for that package? Amazon didn't audit us and find different dimensions, they audited us and billed us more for the dimensions we entered correctly.

LENGTH

The length was 24 inches

WIDTH

Width was 2 inches

PACKAGING/OTHER

Our package was fully encased in corrugated cardboard

Our package was made fully of cardboard, nothing outside the box was non-cardboard

There was no poly bag or bubble wrap, it was not soft sided

There was no shrink wrap

There was no plastic anywhere on the package

There were no wheels, casters etc

The package was rectangular, not cylindrical

It was 2 inches in height, not one

It was a rectangular box that didn't require special handling, we send 500 of these boxes per month and UPS never charges us extra handling.

So again, I ask why we were charged this extra handling when we used the same box we use for every single Amazon shipment.

Per the 2025 Daily Rate and Service Guide from UPS, which can be found on their website: An Additional Handling charge will be assessed for any package that requires special handling, as determined by UPS in its sole discretion.

UPS does not provide specific details for this Additional Handling charge, but reports from other sellers ("UPS Additional Charges") indicate that the charge may be applied to long/thin packaging.

I understand that this was not the response you were looking for, but I do not have any additional path for you to dispute this UPS Additional Handling charge.

@KJ_Amazon so we upped our shipping cost to $35 per package to cover this cost, and Amazon sent a message saying we're charging excessive shipping fees.

What's the solution? We want to charge what you're actually charging, and we have no recourse for overcharges, except to charge every customer the fee you actually charge us.

I spoke to our UPS representative M*** R*** (I blocked his name but am happy to DM you his info), and he said there's absolutely no reason for this overcharge. You're telling me the only solution is beg Amazon to reverse the fee, and we've done that. Our rep states these are bogus charges.

Customer entered dimensions: 12 x 10 x 10 IN, weight 160 OZ

Carrier audited dimensions: 25 x 36 x 44, weight 440 lbs.

Return label generate by Amazon is $8.49, carrier chargeback on the shipping cost is $1,835.90.

We can't even deduct this fee from the customer because the only option on the refund page for the return shipping is $8.49.

Like all carrier shipping correction adjustments, these Additional Handling surcharges originated from the carrier, in this case UPS, and were passed through to sellers.

Do your items qualify for exemptions from prepaid return labels?

"High-value items (price exceeding $100) that need special shipping (for example, items that require special shipping insurance)"?

how did you file the claims? I've still been trying to figure that out with seller central. Not that it seems much will be done. Also spoke to my UPS rep and he says I should be able to dispute these charges.

Thanks for sharing these details @Seller_IcyjS9LPL38AG. On the Adjustment/Transaction detail page, "Customer-Entered Dimensions" does not refer to the buyer. Buyers do not set dimensions/weight for Amazon-issued return shipping labels.

Do your items qualify for exemptions from prepaid return labels?

"High-value items (price exceeding $100) that need special shipping (for example, items that require special shipping insurance)"?

@KJ_Amazon so we upped our shipping cost to $35 per package to cover this cost, and Amazon sent a message saying we're charging excessive shipping fees.

What's the solution? We want to charge what you're actually charging, and we have no recourse for overcharges, except to charge every customer the fee you actually charge us.

I spoke to our UPS representative M*** R*** (I blocked his name but am happy to DM you his info), and he said there's absolutely no reason for this overcharge. You're telling me the only solution is beg Amazon to reverse the fee, and we've done that. Our rep states these are bogus charges.

Customer entered dimensions: 12 x 10 x 10 IN, weight 160 OZ

Carrier audited dimensions: 25 x 36 x 44, weight 440 lbs.

Return label generate by Amazon is $8.49, carrier chargeback on the shipping cost is $1,835.90.

We can't even deduct this fee from the customer because the only option on the refund page for the return shipping is $8.49.

how did you file the claims? I've still been trying to figure that out with seller central. Not that it seems much will be done. Also spoke to my UPS rep and he says I should be able to dispute these charges.
