two accounts
I have a very well established book seller account here on amazon and I want to continue with that one. I have established a 501c3 non-profit and am the founder & CEO of that LLC which is obviously a separate entity. I can't get a straight answer if I'm allowed to open an account for that or not because amazon seller support can only copy and paste information and email it to you - not really do their jobs. Is there anyone from Amazon here who actually knows? I don't want to jeopardize my business account.

You may have more than one selling account.
Other than physical address, everything must be different. Including different items. It is better not to even sell in the same category.
And if one account hits a snag -- the other account is also at risk.

this is a completely separate entity in a different physical location with completely separate books etc. The only connection at all is that i'm the owner of my personal book business and the CEO/Chairman of the non-profit

If they are both in the same category you cannot do it. You will get both accounts closed.
I have two accounts, similar to you. One sells media, and the other has different ownership, bank accounts, corporate docs and sells into other categories.
Amazon was very clear with me when approving to NEVER sell in the same category.

And this is exactly what's wrong with the way Amazon is run (silo-style).
The Amazon video on "Comply with Amazon's Multiple Account policy" conveys something entirely different. The video gives a very clear example of how a seller can have multiple accounts to sell the same product (so obviously the same category) to different customers.
Again, this is aimed at businesses other than bookselling, but until Amazon provides specific guidelines for booksellers on this topic, we have to use what they give us and adapt it to bookselling.
There may not even be an existing answer to the OP's question. The only resolution might come when/if they open a second account, and it either goes well or a rogue bot/employee doesn't like the look of it and brings the hammer down...either now or years down the road.
That's how it's done at Amazon.
You're OK until you're not.

I don't know if this is still accurate, but here is a video from Amazon Seller University.

Hello 1
"Yes, you can. I have three accounts, but you can't list the same item on more than one account. Each account must have its own items. If you fail to do that, they will deactivate all your accounts."
Good luck

Hi @Seller_2rzQbBE8iYQEz,
Steve from Amazon here, thank you for the question. You may only maintain one Seller Central account for each region in which you sell unless you have a legitimate business need to open a second account and all of your accounts are in good standing. If any of your accounts are not in good standing, we may deactivate all of your selling accounts until all accounts are in good standing.
Examples of a legitimate business justification include:
- You own multiple brands and maintain separate businesses for each
- You manufacture products for two distinct and separate companies
- You are recruited for an Amazon program that requires separate accounts
Please reference the resources below for more information on this as well.
Comply with Amazon’s Multiple Account policy
Address a Multiple Account Policy violation
Selling policies and seller code of conduct
Please let me know if there are any other questions.
Thanks,
Steve

We have 2 accounts with 2 brands on each account selling in the same categories. For some reason support set it up this way and said it was the way to do it, though it wouldn't have been my first choice, I was not employed by them at the time.
We do have different brands with separate businesses for each.
